Compilation Introduction

China-SCO Member States Trade Index (hereinafter referred to as "SCO Trade Index", including two subindexes: Trade Development Index and Trade Outlook Indicator) has been prepared from October 2019 by the Global Trade Monitoring and Analysis Center under the General Administration of Customs and Qingdao Customs in conjunction with the Institute of B&R, Qingdao University, under the authorization and guidance of the Department of Statistics and Analysis, General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China. The Trade Development Index was completed in September 2020. The SCO Trade Index has been officially released at the 2021 SCO International Investment and Trade Expo & SCO Qingdao Forum on Local Economic and Trade Cooperation in April 2021.

SCO Trade Index will present the current development and future prospects of China's import and export trades with SCO member states in an evident manner, thus being the barometer and weather vane for the development of China's trade with SCO member states.

(I) Trade Development Index

The trade development index is a comprehensive index to show development status quo and levels of China's import and export trades with SCO member states within a certain period. Three indexes are included: comprehensive index, export index and import index. This index is a monthly index, which takes 2017 as the base period and the monthly mean value of 2017 as the base value (100).

The Trade Development Index has 4 primary indexes: trade scale, development speed, trade quality, and trade enterprise. 11 secondary indexes are set under primary indexes. Where, the trade scale index includes 2 secondary indexes: total trade volume and trade proportion; the development speed index includes 2 secondary indexes:

Absolute Growth Rate and Relative Growth Rate;the trade quality index includes 4 secondary indexes: commodity structure, trade structure, transportation mode and market balance; and the trade enterprise index includes 3 secondary indexes: enterprise type, enterprise activeness and enterprise participation. 44 end indexes (tertiary or quaternary) are set under secondary indexes, all of which are positive indexes, divided into export and import categories (22 for each category) and used to calculate export and import indexes.
